The easiest method
of propagation is by cuttings. Canes should be
removed in May and cut into 37cm (15in) pieces.
Insert these 10cm (4in) deep in trenches filled
with a mixture of peat and sand which is kept
moist. To encourage rooting, first treat the cutting
with hormone powder. By autumn they will have
rooted, and should then be transferred to pots
and grown on in a frame or greenhouse for another
twelve months, during which the side shoots should
be pinched out. They should then be planted in
their fruiting quarters and treated as described.
