Acanthus
Mollis Hardy Perennial 3 to 5 feet.
A big, strong-growing plant, needing plenty
of space, full sun, and a strong, deep soil. In
August it throws up white flower-spikes; but is
grown chiefly for its fine, deeply cut foliage.
Can be raised from seed as other hardy perennials;
but as it is not likely that any great number
will be required, it is best to import young plants
or divided roots in autumn or early spring.
