Clary
– “Blue-Beard” (Salvia Sclarea)
Hardy Annual
18 inches.
Purple, red or white, July to November.
An annual Sage or Salvia, which forms at the
top of the plant a tuft of leaves or bracts resembling
a flower. The purple form is the best, and is
well worth growing as an “occasional”
and a change from the “indispensable”
stand-bys. Sow at the end of March in open ground,
thin early, and treat generally as a hardy annual.
