Omphalodes
– Creeping Forget-Me-Not
Hardy Perennial.
Four to six inches.
Flowers blue, in April.
A trailing plant which sends out runners above
and under ground, and in a favourable position
soon covers a large space of ground.
In early spring it covers itself with beautiful
single flowers of a clear blue, larger than those
of a Forget-me-not,
and in colour more like a Borage.
It may be planted any time between October and
March.
The best position for it is some waste corner
where it can spread without invading other more
stationary plants. The soil should be decidedly
moist; on a pond-bank or a damp hollow it will
mesh the ground with its runners, and make a brief
but delightful display in spring.
Besides the blue there is a white-flowered form.
