Southernwood
– Artemisia, Lad’s Love, etc.
Hardy Perennial.
Two feet.
Flowers white, August.
A plant with finely-cut leaves, and a strong
characteristic smell.
Artemisia abrotanifolia is the
old fashioned cottage-garden favourite, long picked
for Sunday posies. Artemisia gracilis has feathery, silvery
foliage.
Plant in October of February, and give
plenty of room, as the Southernwood is a stout
grower, and apt to swarm over its neighbours.
