Whitlavia
Grandiflora
Hardy Annual.
One foot.
Flowers purple, May to August.
An accommodating annual, flourishing in ordinary
garden soil. It is one of the earliest of the
hardy annuals, coming into bloom very quickly
after sowing. The flowers are bell-shaped, of
a rather dull purple or violet; the plant is rather
sift-fibred, and by no means rampant. Sow in patches
in borders, etc., about the end of March, thin
out and keep clean of weeds.
