Woodruff
– Asperula Odorata
Hardy Perennial.
Four inches.
Flowers white, in May and June.
A low-growing, spreading plant of a bright pale
green, covered in early summer with heads of very
small white flowers. The whole plant has a distinctive
scent, something like new-mown hay. It grows like
a weed, and will succeed in any soil, and under
shade of walls or trees, and is excellent for
covering ground where choicer plants fail. Plant
clumps any time between October and April. May
be also raised from seed sown in summer, and treated
as other hardy perennials.
